Overview

Indio Feliz is a large restaurant located on a side street close to the main plaza in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Its name meaning “Happy Native,” was given to the restaurant by its French owner Patrick, inspired by the amount of happy locals wandering the streets of Aguas Calientes when he first arrived in the town in the 1980’s. The restaurant covers 2 floors with 4 individual dining rooms. The décor is unique in design, and features many hand crafted individual items procured in Peru and around the world. Indio Feliz offers a set 3-course menu (with many options), or diners can pick individual plates from the menu. A full selection of soft and alcoholic beverages (including an extensive wine list) is also available.

Our Thoughts

We absolutely love the Indio Feliz Restaurant. The vibrant décor is difficult to describe with just words, but you might say it is rather extravagant; perhaps an explosion of colour that overloads the mind, yet at the same time creates an incredibly inviting, warm and fun place to dine (see the photos). The food is also exceptional. The menu is packed full of super tasty options and you’ll probably struggle to narrow your decision to just one dish. We recommend the French onion soup to start, followed by the pineapple chicken for mains, before finishing with the rather naughty apple pie (served with ice cream and cream). A French bistro with a French flair for inventive and tasty food.
